Cast Iron Manhole Cover Standards and Composite Manhole Cover Standards

• The standard for drain grates and manhole covers made of cast iron and composite is based on load requirements for each installation location.
• Products that meet the standard will not break or crack when they reach the designed load level.
• This standard is divided into 4 basic load classes: 1.5 Ton (A15), 12.5 Tons (B125), 25 Tons (C250), 40 Tons (D400)

BS EN 124:2015 standard for drainage grates, manhole covers

• A15 – Load 1.5 tons – Used in areas exclusively for pedestrians or cyclists.
• B125 – Load 12.5 tons – Used on sidewalks, pedestrian areas, motorcycles areas, and car parking lots.
• C250 – Load 25 tons – Used on the roadside, maximum 0.5m from the curb towards the road and 0.2m towards the pedestrian area.
• D400 – Load 40 tons: Used on roadways, parking areas for all types of road vehicles.
